Joseph La Posta, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Multicultural NSW
SHER FOUNDATION had the privilege of meeting with Joseph La Posta, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Multicultural NSW, for a high-level discussion on advancing mental health and social inclusion outcomes for multicultural men across New South Wales.
The meeting was an important opportunity to introduce SHER’s work in fostering culturally safe spaces for Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) men—particularly through our unique model of structured sports, wellness sessions, and community-led social activities. We shared the growing demand for our programs and the psychosocial needs we are addressing among migrant men aged 18–70, many of whom face cultural disconnection, stigma, and limited access to mainstream mental health supports.
Mr La Posta expressed strong interest in SHER’s innovative grassroots approach and acknowledged the importance of targeted, preventative mental health initiatives led by CALD communities themselves. He commended our commitment to co-design, lived experience leadership, and early intervention—all of which closely align with Multicultural NSW’s strategic priorities.
Key themes discussed included: the importance of trust-building in migrant communities; pathways for scaling culturally responsive services; and opportunities for future collaboration under the NSW Government’s ongoing investment in social cohesion and mental health resilience.
We are grateful for Mr La Posta’s openness and leadership, and for recognising the unique role SHER plays in the multicultural health ecosystem. This dialogue marks the beginning of what we hope will be a strong and enduring partnership with Multicultural NSW.
SHER FOUNDATION LTD remains committed to delivering high-impact, evidence-informed initiatives that uplift CALD men and contribute meaningfully to a more connected, inclusive, and mentally healthy New South Wales.
