University Resilience Workshops

Helping university students feel Seen. Supported. Strong.

SHER Foundation at University of New South Wales (UNSW)

University can be overwhelming—especially for students from migrant, refugee, and culturally diverse backgrounds who are navigating more than just assignments.

Our resilience workshops are designed to meet them where they are—with tools that are practical, culturally relevant, and emotionally safe.

Led by facilitators who reflect your students' lived experience

All sessions are delivered by trained facilitators from diverse backgrounds who understand the cultural nuances, pressures, and barriers many students face. This shared experience builds trust, reduces stigma, and creates a familiar environment where students feel safe to participate.

Facilitators are trained in trauma-informed practice and culturally responsive engagement—ensuring alignment with your university’s wellbeing and inclusion goals.

  • Students learn interpersonal and emotional tools that help them communicate clearly, set boundaries, seek support, and manage pressure.

These “soft skills” are strongly linked to resilience, wellbeing, and academic success.

  • Practical techniques for staying focused and grounded during busy exam periods or assignment deadlines—including mindfulness, time planning, and emotion regulation.

  • Space to reflect on cultural background, values, and expectations—while building pride, self-awareness, and connection to campus life.

  • Students leave with greater awareness of on-campus support services, and with strategies to build social connections that sustain wellbeing over time.
